Travel Cancellation Insurance conditions

The Travel Cancellation Insurance is only valid if this was bought no later than 7 days after the
booking date of the package tour or after the date the rental agreement was concluded. The
insurance cover expires if the premium, as stated on the front page of the cancellation insurance
document, has not been paid into Preston Palace's bank account within 14 days after the date the
insurance was taken out, also stated on the front page of the cancellation insurance document.

Insurance conditions:

1 DEFINITIONS

a Insured persons
The term 'insured persons' means: The persons included in the reservation and policy number as
stated on the front page of the cancellation insurance document.

b Day price
The term 'day price' means the insured sum (travel sum and/or rental sum) divided by the number of
days of the holiday and then divided by the number of insured persons.

2 COVERED RISK

a Cancellation costs
On cancellation of the package tour or rental agreement, the following will be reimbursed:
- payments already made;
- outstanding payments the insured person is obliged to pay on the basis of the concluded
agreement;
- the transfer fees.

b Early termination reimbursement
In the case of early termination the day price per 24-hour period is reimbursed for each insured
person. If a hospital admittance is necessary during the package tour or rental period, for each 24-
hour period the day price is reimbursed for the insured person admitted to hospital, his/her spouse
and his/her first degree family members included in the insurance or for the insured persons
admitted to hospital and a co-insured person.
Early termination of 8 hours or less is not eligible for reimbursement.

c Departure delay
An insured person is entitled to reimbursement if he/she departs later as a result of an event stated
in article 3. In the case of one or more days later, the day price is reimbursed per 24-hour period per
insured person.

d Arrival delay
An insured person is entitled to reimbursement if he/she travels by:
- bus, boat or train and it arrives late at the place of destination due to delays during the journey,
irrespective of the cause;
- own transport means and arrival at the place of destination is delayed as a result of an event stated
in article 3.

In the case of arrival delay, reimbursement is the day price per 24-hour period or part of a 24-hour
period, per insured person up to a maximum of 5 times the day price. For travel destinations within
Europe (including countries bordering the Mediterranean See, the Azores, Madeira and the Canary
Islands) a delay of 8 hours or less is not classed as arrival delay. For other travel destinations for
delays of 12 hours or less, each insured person remains entitled to reimbursement if the insured
person could not reasonably be expected that he/she could start or continue the journey on time.

E As far as the payments stated in this article are concerned, reimbursement will only take place
insofar as these cannot be recovered in another way.


3 COVERED EVENTS
The reimbursements stated in article 3 take place, if the cancellation, late departure, early
termination or, in the case of travel by own transport means, the late arrival is the result of one of
the following events:

a Death, serious illness or serious injury of an insured person;

b Death, serious illness or serious injury of first or second degree family members of an insured
person;

c In the case of an intended stay with family residing outside the Netherlands: death, serious illness
or serious injury of one of the family members, which means accommodation at this family is not
possible;

d For medical reasons, not being able to have a vaccination that is prescribed by the relevant
authority for reaching the travel destination or staying there, insofar as the insured person did not
have any prior knowledge of any medical objections to the vaccination;

e Serious damage to the holiday accommodation, making occupation impossible;

f Significant damage by means of fire, burglary, explosion, lightning strike, storm or flooding that
affects an insured person’s property, making it essential that he/she is in attendance;

g An unexpected call for military service or call for retraining exercise;

h Involuntary unemployment of an insured person as a result of full or partial closure of the company
that employs the insured person;

i The unexpected allocation of a rented house in a period of 30 days before the start of the package
tour or the start of the rental agreement until the last day of the package tour or rental period
respectively;

j The unforeseen break down, within 7 days before the start of the journey, of the insured person's
motor vehicle intended to be used for the journey (provided the motor vehicle was in a reasonable
state of repair and is not older than 8 years) and a (emergency) repair or replacement could not
reasonable be arranged;

k The unforeseen break down, during the outward journey to the holiday destination, of the insured
person's motor vehicle intended to be used for the journey (provided the motor vehicle was in a
reasonable state of repair and is not older than 8 years) and a (emergency) repair could not
reasonable be arranged within 72 hours. In all cases stated under 3j and 3k the policyholder can,
instead of receiving reimbursement for the costs stated in article 2, receive reimbursement for the
costs of hiring a comparable replacement vehicle for the remainder of the package tour period, up to
the insured sum.

4 AUTHORISED AGENT
If an authorised agent is included in the insurance, the insured persons are entitled to
reimbursement of his/her costs stated in article 2, if the authorised agent drops out due to an event
in article 3a, b, f, g, h or i.

5 OBLIGATIONS OF INSURED PERSONS
The insured persons are obliged:

- to inform Preston Palace within 3 x 24 hours of an event such as described in article 3 substantiated
by the necessary documentary evidence, such as rental agreement, certificate of registration,
package tour;
- to provide all cooperation reasonable requested by Preston Palace and refrain from anything that
may damage the interests of Preston Palace.

6 EXCLUSIONS
There is no entitlement to reimbursement if:

a at the start of the insurance the circumstances were already such, that cancellation,
departure/arrival delay or early termination could reasonably have been expected;
b the damage was caused as a result or armed conflict, civil war, insurgencies, unrest in foreign
countries, riots or mutiny;
c the damage is caused by or is in connection with nuclear reactions, irrespective of how and where
the reaction occurred, other than in the case of a medical treatment applied to the insured person;
d the insured person did not meet any of the obligations arising from these conditions.

7 CLAIMS PAYMENT
Preston Palace has the right to pay claims to the policyholder. If payments are made that relate to
claims of another insured person, the policyholder will be regarded as the representative of the coinsured travel companions.
